When using applications on Software Anywhere, you may find you need to read from or write to files on the computer you’re using.  The steps below describe how to get to those files, and arrange it such that you only need to do this once.

  1. Log into Software Anywhere and start the application of your choice.
  2. In the application, attempt to access a file from your computer as you normally would (for example, “File” menu, “Open…”)
  3. On the left, choose “Computer”
  4. Then at the bottom of the list under “Other”, choose the drive from your computer, similar to that shown in the image above, e.g. “Local Disk (C: on )”, and a File permissions window will appear.
  5. Click “Read & Write” (this means the application can read and write to files on your computer)
  6. You should then be able to read and write to files and folders on your computer

If you cannot find your files on your computer, or you did not see the “File permissions” window, here’s some tips for getting this to work.  You may also contact the SC&I IT Services Helpdesk for assistance at any time.

  1. Click on the Citrix Receiver icon in your system tray (top-right). Click “Preferences”

  2. Click on the tab for “Device”
  3. Click on the radio button for “Read and Write”
  4. If you still don’t see “Other” or your computer’s drive, try closing all applications that you have open on Software Anywhere, and then opening it again.
  5. If after closing and reopening all Software Anywhere applications, it is suggested you contact the SC&I IT Services Helpdesk for assistance.
