About Us

The Omicron Chapter of Beta Phi Mu (BPMO) is the Rutgers University chapter of Beta Phi Mu, the international Library and Information Studies honor society.

The Omicron Chapter was founded in 1970 and is one of the oldest and most active chapters of Beta Phi Mu.

BPMO provides an annual merit scholarship to current Rutgers School of Communication and Information students specializing in libraries studies. Individuals who receive the scholarship must be high performing students with strong faculty recommendations. Need is also taken into consideration when multiple well qualified students apply. The BPMO annual scholarship fund is entirely self-supporting. Please consider making a donation.

BPMO also organizes networking opportunities meetings, discussions, and other events designed to encourage development of strong relationships and a well informed community of librarians.
