Site of the month: The Historical Society of Pennsylvania\u2019s Digital Library<\/a><\/p>\n Hi everyone,<\/p>\n It\u2019s finally time to sign up for what is perhaps our biggest trip of the semester. \u00a0I know it is late in the semester and we are all feeling the workload crunch, but you really don\u2019t want to miss this trip because we have a double-header planned to visit two premier institutions in New York City.<\/p>\n Our first visit with be to the New-York Historical Society Library, the second oldest historical society in the United States and home to one of the best American history collections, anywhere. \u00a0The staff at N-YHS are marvelous and we\u2019ll be meeting with three of their top people \u2013 their archivist, manuscript curator and head of conservation.<\/p>\n This portion of the trip will begin at 10am and run\u00a0approximately\u00a01.5 to 2 hours.<\/p>\n More on N-YHS here:\u00a0http:\/\/www.nyhistory.org\/library<\/a>.<\/p>\n Our second visit will be to the American Museum of Natural History, which is conveniently located next door to N-YHS. \u00a0We\u2019ll first spend time visiting with and getting a tour of the archives of the Anthropology Department, followed by another tour and visit with the staff of their main research library. \u00a0After this visit, you\u2019ll really know how special, \u201cspecial collections\u201d can be!<\/p>\n This portion of the trip with begin at 1:30pm and run about 2.5 hours.<\/p>\n More info here:\u00a0http:\/\/research.amnh.org\/anthropology\/<\/a>\u00a0and here:\u00a0http:\/\/library.amnh.org\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n Space for this trip is *definitely* limited, so make sure to RSVP at the survey monkey link, below. \u00a0If you think you can attend for only the morning or only the afternoon portion of the trip, you can indicate that on the survey and we\u2019ll do our best to accommodate.<\/p>\nN-YHS & AMNH – 4\/20\/12<\/strong><\/h2>\n
