{"id":252,"date":"2015-03-12T17:16:35","date_gmt":"2015-03-12T17:16:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.comminfo.rutgers.edu\/dsa-new\/?p=159"},"modified":"2015-03-12T17:16:35","modified_gmt":"2015-03-12T17:16:35","slug":"how-to-access-and-use-software-anywhere-mac-os-x","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.comminfo.rutgers.edu\/dsa\/how-to-access-and-use-software-anywhere-mac-os-x\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Access and Use Software Anywhere (Mac OS X)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If using Software Anywhere for the first time, please read the &#8220;<a title=\"Installing Software Anywhere client (Mac OS X)\" href=\"http:\/\/wp.comminfo.rutgers.edu\/classresource\/2015\/03\/12\/installing-software-anywhere-client-mac-os-x\/\">Installing Software Anywhere client (Mac OS X)<\/a>&#8221; document first as it has important information in it to help you get set up!<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to the Software Anywhere website at <a href=\"http:\/\/sa.comminfo.rutgers.edu\/\">http:\/\/sa.comminfo.rutgers.edu\/<\/a>.<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.comminfo.rutgers.edu\/dsa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/121\/2015\/03\/login.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-312\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.comminfo.rutgers.edu\/dsa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/121\/2015\/03\/login.png\" alt=\"login\" width=\"364\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>You should see a log in screen as shown above. \u00a0But, if you instead see a message about installing a client, please first see &#8220;<a title=\"Installing Software Anywhere client (Mac OS X)\" href=\"http:\/\/wp.comminfo.rutgers.edu\/classresource\/2015\/03\/12\/installing-software-anywhere-client-mac-os-x\/\">Installing Software Anywhere client (Mac OS X)<\/a>&#8221; to address this issue, then come back to this step.<\/li>\n<li>Log in with your SC&amp;I Network Account.\n<ol>\n<li>If you do not know what your SC&amp;I Network Account is, please see &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/comminfo.rutgers.edu\/software-anywhere\/about-your-sc-i-network-account.html\">About Your SC&amp;I Network Account<\/a>&#8220;.<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.comminfo.rutgers.edu\/dsa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/121\/2015\/03\/icons.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-314\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.comminfo.rutgers.edu\/dsa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/121\/2015\/03\/icons.png\" alt=\"icons\" width=\"631\" height=\"177\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>You should now see a screen with a number of icons on it for your applications. \u00a0To use any application, click once on the icon.<\/li>\n<li>On many browsers this may download a file instead of opening the application. \u00a0If this happens, simple open and run the file, and the application will then open afterwards.<\/li>\n<li>A progress bar window should appear.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.comminfo.rutgers.edu\/dsa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/121\/2015\/03\/receiver_mac1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-324\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.comminfo.rutgers.edu\/dsa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/121\/2015\/03\/receiver_mac1.png\" alt=\"receiver_mac1\" width=\"389\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Please be patient while the application loads! \u00a0Since the application is hosted in the cloud at SC&amp;I it will take some time to connect and start up.<\/li>\n<li>Use your application\n<ol>\n<li>IMPORTANT: YOU CANNOT SAVE TO THE SERVER, SO MAKE SURE YOU CAN SAVE YOUR FILES TO YOUR COMPUTER AT THIS POINT BEFORE YOU START DOING WORK!<\/li>\n<li>See &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/wp.comminfo.rutgers.edu\/classresource\/2014\/12\/12\/how-do-i-open-and-save-files-using-software-anywhere-mac-os-x\/\">How do I open and save files using Software Anywhere? (Mac OS X)<\/a>&#8220;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>When you are finished, simply close your application.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h1>This did not work for me&#8230; help!<\/h1>\n<p>Occasionally the usual process does not go as expected for everyone&#8211;we have some steps below that may help. \u00a0You may also contact the SC&amp;I IT Services Helpdesk for assistance at any time.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>If you <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">get an error message when trying to go to the site<\/span>, contact the SC&amp;I IT Services Helpdesk<\/li>\n<li>If you <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">cannot log in<\/span> with your SC&amp;I Network Account, first see &#8220;About Your SC&amp;I Network Account&#8221;. \u00a0Reactivating it may resolve the issue.\n<ol>\n<li>If reactivating does not help, contact the SC&amp;I IT Services Helpdesk<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>If you <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">do not see a screen with icons<\/span> after logging in, contact the SC&amp;I IT Services Helpdesk<\/li>\n<li>If <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">nothing happens after clicking an application icon<\/span>:\n<ol>\n<li>Check to see if your browser downloaded a &#8220;launch.ica&#8221; file in your downloads folder.<\/li>\n<li>If so, open or run this file.<\/li>\n<li>If not, or again nothing happens, contact the SC&amp;I IT Services Helpdesk<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>If a window appears <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">asking what you want to open a &#8220;launch.ica&#8221; <\/span>file:\n<ol>\n<li>Click on the &#8220;Settings&#8221; button at the top<\/li>\n<li>Then, under &#8220;General&#8221;, click on the &#8220;Change Client&#8221; button<\/li>\n<li>On the right, you should see text for &#8220;Native Client&#8221;, and next to that a link for &#8220;Deploy&#8221;. \u00a0Click on the link for &#8220;Deploy&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>This will allow you to reinstall the client for Software Anywhere. \u00a0Please then see &#8220;<a title=\"Installing Software Anywhere client (Mac OS X)\" href=\"http:\/\/wp.comminfo.rutgers.edu\/classresource\/2015\/03\/12\/installing-software-anywhere-client-mac-os-x\/\">Installing Software Anywhere client (Mac OS X)<\/a>&#8220;.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>If a <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">progress bar appears and seems like it will never finish<\/span>, contact the SC&amp;I IT Services Helpdesk<\/li>\n<li>If you <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">cannot print<\/span> to your printer attached to your computer:\n<ol>\n<li>First, make sure the printer is attached before using any Software Anywhere applications.<\/li>\n<li>Next, Find the system tray icon for Citrix, and double-click it. \u00a0This would be a blue icon as shown here (), located near the clock on the bottom right part of your screen. \u00a0You may have to click the arrow to find it.<\/li>\n<li>Then on the right of the window that appears, ensure that &#8220;USB Access&#8221; is set to &#8220;Full Access&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Close all Software Anywhere applications you have open, and then reopen it and see if you can print.<\/li>\n<li>If you still cannot find your printer, contact the SC&amp;I IT Services Helpdesk<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>If you <span class=\"Apple-style-span\">cannot find your folders or files<\/span> on your computer from a Software Anywhere application:\n<ol>\n<li>Please see &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/wp.comminfo.rutgers.edu\/classresource\/2014\/12\/12\/how-do-i-open-and-save-files-using-software-anywhere-mac-os-x\/\">How do I open and save files using Software Anywhere?
